Highfield Community Hall and St Matthews Church Saturday 5 December 2026 Time: 12pm – late

Pop in for a brew, a cake and a chat, and help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Every pound and every penny raised helps support people living with cancer and their families.

From Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th October, Winstanley Art Group will be holding their exhibition, with a fantastic selection of paintings and cards on display and for sale.

At the moment, it sits quietly behind St Matthew's Church, where many people probably don't even realise it's there. Highfield has very few public green spaces, and this could create somewhere special for remembrance, reflection and community pride, while also bringing new life to a historically important corner of the village.

We run regular volunteer-led litter picks throughout Highfield. We passionate about removing litter and keeping Highfield's streets, parks, and woodlands clean, green, and beautiful for everyone.

After reading some of the lovely comments on our St Matthew’s Day post this morning, it gave us an idea…  A Flower From Highfield A few people have said they no longer live in Highfield, but still have parents, grandparents, family or friends buried at St Matthew’s.

Who remembers dinner time at Highfield School? For generations of Highfield children, the ringing of the school bell meant one thing... dinner time!

The photo was taken from Billinge Road, near the junction with Foundry Lane, looking across what was once a familiar view to so many local people. Just look at everything that's now gone...

Ever wondered what this train is doing passing through Highfield? This is the train a lot of railway people call the “Knowsley Bin Liner”. It’s part of a regular waste operation between Knowsley and the Wilton Energy-from-Waste plant on Teesside.

Part of the old Summersales Colliery site, just off Merton Road. I believe that’s Teal Close you can see in the background — unless anyone can put us right!
