Blast From the Past

We're not exactly sure what year this photo was taken, but what an incredible snapshot of Highfield's past.

 The photo was taken from Billinge Road, near the junction with Foundry Lane, looking across what was once a familiar view to so many local people.

Just look at everything that's now gone...

 YoYo Hill

 The 20 Steps Bridge

 Wigan's cooling towers

 The Worsley Mesnes flats

 And, of course, the old football field where so many Highfielders spent hours playing, making friends and creating memories.

It's amazing how one photograph can capture so much history in a single frame. Places may disappear, but the memories they gave us never do.
